To all of you who make MONDAY NIGHTS what it is - for we wouldn’t be the same without you - thank you for a wonderful year!
Man, the Lord has blessed me this last year. I have so many thing to be thankful for. I am thankful for my relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I want to be closer to Him this year than ever before, and I know the Lord has cool things ahead for me in 2009.
I am thankful for my beautiful wife Ruth, whom I love more and more every day , and she loves me too - WHAT A BONUS! I am thankful for my son Hudson. It feels like it’s been years since Hudson was born back in June of 2008, or maybe it’s just the years of sleep I feel that I’ve missed.
Anyways, once a man participates in a 9 month course in manhood with a crescendo in the delivery of his baby son - you never go back. Believe me. Wow! We had our first Christmas this year and it was a special treat not having to pretend it was cold outside!
The Lord really gave me an insight towards the end of 2008 that I’d like to share with you. I felt like the Lord said, “Garid, if you were to die, and you were to look back on your life, would there be things you wished you would have done?” Maybe I was experiencing some sort of ”quarter - life” crisis, since I’m nearing 30, but nonetheless it got me thinking. My answer didn’t include; I wish I would have worked out more, did music more, surfed more, or traveled more. Very concisely I felt that if I could have gone back I would have done 2 things:
- I would have read my Bible more.
- I would have have spent more time with my wife and son.
These are the things that really are important - our relationship with Jesus and our relationships with our family.
So may the 2009th year of our Lord…
(history is divided into two time periods. B.C. - “Before Christ”, and A.D. - Anno Domini, Latin for “The year of our Lord Jesus Christ” starting at the birth of Christ. So, we’re in the 2009th year since Christ’s birth or the 2009th year of our Lord… just thought I’d share.) Where was I…? Oh yeah,
So may the 2009th year of our Lord be one in which our priorities are in order, and one in which we focus on the things that truly matter. May we not wait until the end of our life to wish we would have done differently.
“He is no fool to give what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.”
Happy New Year!
